About HUT
Hunan University of Technology (HUT) is a multi-disciplinary university, embracing more than 50 years of higher education experience. It is located in Zhuzhou of Hunan Province which is in the middle of China, on the south of lower-middle of Yangtze River where the world famous Mawangdui Tombs of Han Dynasty (166 B. C.) were unearthed, papermaking skill was invented nearly 700 years ago. Hunan is also the birthplace of the Dragon Boat Festival (one of the three major traditional Chinese holidays, along with the Spring Festival and the Mid-autumn Festival). 131 of the Fortune Globe 500 companies such as Microsoft, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Robert Bosch have invested in Hunan. Zhuzhou borders the south-east of Changsha, the capital of Hunan. Zhuzhou is a superb transportation hub of the nation and the R&D and manufaturing base of Medium-low Speed Maglev Vehicles and High-Speed Rails. It is also the National Garden City, National Hygiene City, National Excellent Tourism City and the Overall Testing Zone for a resource-saving and environmental friendly society authorized by the State Council. With packaging education as its major characteristic, HUT became China’s first member of the International Association of Packaging Research Institutes (IAPRI). In 2003, HUT was authorized as the master degree awarding-institution by Academic Degree Commission of the State Council and awarded the outstanding college in undergraduate teaching assessment by the Ministry of Education in 2008. In 2010, HUT passed the process quality evaluation of post-graduate cultivation and was rated as excellent performance. In 2012, HUT was conferred admission right to the training project of doctoral talents for national special demands. In 2013, HUT was awarded one of the top 50 universities in China for graduate employment, and was rated as “a model university for graduate employment and entrepreneurship” in 2015.
HUT covers an area of 226 hectors, along with a library of 2,600,000 volumes, teaching and research facilities valued 186.03 million yuan and an advanced computer network service system.
With engineering education as its core, HUT has established a coordinated discipline system with subjects in engineering, science, management, humanities, economics, laws, arts, etc. HUT owns 18 schools and 1 independent college, including a doctoral program, 11 master programs and 60 undergraduate programs. HUT has a staff of 2,507, including 285 professors, 606 associate professors, 232 doctors (Ph.D.), and 10 State Council Experts for special allowance. HUT employs 6 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
HUT has established extensive relationship in scientific research cooperation and academic exchange with universities and research institutes such as Michigan State University(USA), Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Reims(France), Yonsei University (South Korea), City University of Hongkong. HUT began to recruit international students since 2009.
For more than 50 years, HUT has cultivated over 130,000 students for the nation. HUT is intensifying its efforts in building up a unique, high-standard teaching and research university that is nationally prominent and provincially advanced.
